Topic: Clinical Diagnosis and management of Karnini Yoni vyapad with special reference to Cervical Erosion
Abstract: Ayurveda has two fold objectives. One is to maintain the positive Health and second is to eradicate the disease. Gynaecology is the study of woman but usage restricts it mainly to the study of female organs of reproduction and their diseases. Pregnancy is one of the most unique, exciting and joyous time in a woman’s life. After completing entire nine months of gestation period baby is delivered. Due to straining during labor in the absence of labor pains, the vayu obstructed by fetus, withholding kapha and getting mixed with rakta produces Karnini in yoni, which obstructs the passage of raja. Due to presence of Karnika ( a small muscular ball), this condition is termed as Karnini yoni vyapad by Acharya Charaka in Charaka Samhita, Chikitsa sthana, 30/27,28. Common symptoms are vaginal discharge with other symptoms like weakness, pain in back and calves, loss of vital fluids, the pruritis on and around the vulva, thighs and pelvic joints. It can be treated by combined effect of oral medication and local therapy. Use of shodhan varti, tampons, and uttarbasti, yoni prakshalana (douche) is the main treatment. Depending on the signs and symptoms Karnini Yoni vyapad can be correlated with Cervical Erosion in modern.
Key Words- Karnini , Karnini yonivyapad, Cervical Erosion

Topic: Female Infertility and its management through Ayurveda
Abstract: Infertility is a serious issue in the present socio-cultural scenario. Infertility, as per modern science is defined as inability to conceive even after one year of normal marital relations without use of contraception. In Ayurveda, this condition is termed as Vandhyatva and there are four factors which are responsible for healthy conception, namely Ritu (appropriate time of conception), Kshetra(healthy uterus and vagina), Ambu (proper nutrition of mother) and Beej(healthy ovum & sperm). Among all health issues, infertility is one of the main health issue due to changing lifestyles nowadays. The number of infertility cases are increasing day by day due to changing lifestyles, junk foods, socio-economic causes, tremendous amount of stress, worries, tensions etc. Nearly 10-15 % of the individuals belonging to the reproductive age group are affected by Infertility. Conception depends upon the fertility potential of both the male and female partner. Male is directly responsible for about 30-40% cases, while female is responsible in about 40-55%. About 10% cases are found due to incapability of both the partners. In remaining 10%, the cause of infertility is unexplained.
Researches in various mode of treatment of Female infertility has been growing globally in recent years. Here in this article, we will explore the female causes of infertility along with its Ayurvedic management which is a holistic approach towards the cure including lifestyle changes & diet regimes along with Ayurvedic medicines. Herbs with classical preparations, uttaravasti, shirodhara etc. these all help to manage the infertility. Ayurvedic treatment is one of the oldest, scientific treatment method, about 5000 years old and is very reliable. The combined approach of Ayurveda and advanced reproductive technologies is also serving as a new approach in decreasing infertility cases to the minimum. The role of Ayurvedic treatment for infertility is of paramount value. The holistic Ayurvedic treatment aims to improve the general and mental health of the patient leading to a higher probability of pregnancy.

Topic: Non-surgical ayurvedic management of Subcutaneous Lipoma - An experimental study
Abstract: Āyurveda is a holistic science that aims to show the right path to attain puruṣarthās. The medium through which these puruṣarthās can be attained is a health body and mind. A person can only be called healthy if he possesses a healthy body along with a healthy mind. Diseases affecting the body invariably affects the mind & vice versa and results in ill-health of the patient. One best example of such a disease is Medaja granthi i.e Lipoma. Even though a physical disease i.e mainly affecting the body, it also affects the mind as it results in cosmetic disfigurement of the body, especially for women when lipoma is located over the exposed body parts like arms, forearms, neck or face. Due to beauty-related issues the social stigma associated with this may lead to anxiety, inferiority complex, and also severe depression in long-standing cases. The most accepted conventional line of treatment of lipoma in contemporary science is surgical excision of the swelling which is limited by the risk of scarring and recurrence. Āyurveda provides solutions to various ailments where contemporary science fails to give a permanent cure, provided the condition is properly understood as per the classics and treated as per the classical line of treatment given by our ācharyas. With the same intention, the present experimental study was taken up to dig out a permanent solution from our ayurvedic classics to treat subcutaneous lipoma.

Topic: Ayurvedic Chrysotherapy : from concept to clinical practice & current evidences
Abstract: Therapeutic use of Gold is known as Chrysotherapy or Aurotherapy or simply Gold therapy. Gold is one of the most non-reactive metals known to mankind till date. It will not impart any harmful effect on the human body and will lie inert. Gold is known to be extremely bio compatible edible metal and does not
interfere with the physiology of the human body. In contemporary literature, the history application of Gold in therapeutics is traced back to a maximum of 100 years; whereas in Ayurveda it is ancient. Swarna Bhasma or Gold Ash is a therapeutic form of gold metal of nano-sized particles that is one of the most treasured ayurvedic medicine. // na sajjate hemapange padmapatre ambuvat visham // (AHSu.7) In a person who has been given Gold bhasma for a long time, the poison cannot do any harm, similar to a water drop that cannot touch the leaf of the lotus. This particular quote provides the reference of long term use of swarna bhasma, which is known to balance tridosha. Swarna Bhasma is used for increasing non-specific innate immunity and in the treatment of a wide range of diseases. It also acts as an adjuvant for various medicines and herbs
and boosts their actions and increases their efficacy. According to Ayurveda, it is a good nervine tonic and improves overall health. It increases lifespan, intelligence, memory, skin glow, and prevents several diseases. Also, it increases strength and endurance and improves mental as well as physical performance. Gold is more than just an expensive yellow metal. Scientific exploration of broad-spectrum and multidimensional effects of gold will establish it as an essential trace element. Understanding its basic chemistry, clinical pharmacology, therapeutic applications, and current evidence is essential and will be discussed in the lecture.

Topic: Inflammation – the internal and external fight
Abstract: ‘Inflammation’ is the body’s basic response to any irritant. The idea seems very simple but it is the single most reason for most of the health challenges we face. From infectious to allergic to non –communicable modern day challenges to health- the problems of 21st century, all revolve around this age old process of inflammation. This pathology was identified thousands of years ago by the stalwarts of Ayurveda as the singular important cause that begins either in mind or in the body and is capable of causing acute or chronic diseases and irreparable damage to the system. The statement holds good even today. In this presentation we will take an overview of both the modern and Ayurvedic views on the issue. We shall see what makes one prone for it, provokes it and also discuss holistic approach for preventing and modifying the pathology.

Topic: Exploring the concept of ancient clinical examination methods
Abstract: Acharya Charaka says that a physician can accomplish the desired results if he duly initiates action after having full knowledge of the subject. Charaka in around 2nd B.C. has elaborated scientific methods of patient examination. This approach to patient examination is very practical and scientific. Most important of all these Methods is a patient, who constitutes the site for the administration of therapies with a view to bringing about equilibrium in the Body. The patient should be examined so as to obtain knowledge regarding the span of life, strength and the intensity of morbidity. Because, it is on the basis of the intensity of morbidity that the dosage of the therapy is determined and the latter is dependent upon the strength or the power of resistance of the individual. Therefore, the patient should be examined with tenfold examination methods described in ancient Ayurveda Texts.

Ayurveda is an oasis in the approach to hepatobiliary disorders and ALD is not different. Evaluation of doshic variations at different stages of ALD, status of agni and srotodushti is done to assess and formulate treatment protocols accordingly. Herbal and herbomineral preparations following detoxification are at helm of treatment protocols. Yoga, Praanaayaam and dietary modifications are as important a component of therapy.

Topic: Quality of care in AYUSH – 5W1H perspective
Abstract: Quality of care is a key component of the healthcare. Quality is receiving increasing attention in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as the SDGs include the imperative to “achieve universal health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all”.
What is QoC? - Quality of care is defined by WHO as “the extent to which health care services provided to individuals and patient populations improve desired health outcomes”.
Why QoC is important? - Quality is nothing but doing the right thing in a right way for the first time and every time. This not only saves time , but also improves the health care delivery process. It is more of patient centric and thus focuses on the safety of the patient. This automatically improves the safety standards of the health care givers also.
When? - Quality can be done at any given time. The journey on quality road may be started at any given point of time. The will of the management is the main key to implement the quality
Where ? - The Quality of care can be implemented across the hospital set up of any size. Be it is a day care center, small hospital, big corporate hospital etc.
Who? - The management plays a big role to take care of the quality in care. However, the mission and vision of the quality care is taken forward by all staff from the watchman at gate to each and every person attached with the hospital.
How do you provide QoC? - In order to achieve QoC, health care must be safe, effective, timely, efficient, equitable and people-centered.
All these quality programs works on a pre-set of standards developed for the purpose. This quality programs are mainly based on the Quality Management Systems which further depended on pillars like Infrastructure, polices and procedure manuals, Standard operating procedures( SOPs), Medicines and other logistics procurement, adhering to the patients and staff rights responsibilities, Facility up keeping etc. The quality care also involves the constant review of the services provided by adding or deleting the list of their scope of services as per the needs of the community. The Data capturing and its analysis is important for continuous delivery of quality care.
With this background, it can be said the awareness of the quality systems of AYUSH is increasing day by day in all its stakeholders, patients and general public as well. The details of which shall be discussed in detail in the webinar.

Topic: Clinical assessment of Diabetes Mellitus-Ayurveda Review
Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus(DM) Can be Correlated to Madhumeha in Ayurveda Science. In this disease, Gradual involvement of doshas, multiple dooshyas, and involvement of Vital part i.e urinary organs are involved. Based on its classifications, the Sahaja type is correlated to Type 1 DM and Apathyanimittaja is classified as Type 2 DM. When we look at,20 urinary symptoms of Madhumeha explained in classics can be correlated to inflammatory conditions involved with metabolic syndrome and DM with infections. Also, we can take DM with nephropathy. As per Ashtanga Hridaya Textbook, where classified it into avaranaja (obstructive type) and Dhatukshayaja madhumeha (Debilitative type)
Based on this , We need to manage the disease through an integrated approach in terms of Diet, Exercise and other Lifestyle measures explained in classics. Hence, in this presentation, i am going to highlight the Whole system protocol for the management of diabetes through the clinical assessment in Ayurveda.

Topic: Face mask and human health
Abstract: Dr. Nagabhushan Moolky, Ph.D., C.N.S., Usha Kolpe, MD** & Arnav Shandilya* Senior Scientist, Health Coach, Expert Witness, Independent Consultant – Nutrition & Toxicology, Oakbrook, Illinois, USA.**VA Hines Hospital, Maywood, Illinois, USA *Neuqua Valley High School, Naperville, Illinois, USA. Around 1000 BCE, Ayurvedic Surgeon Sushruta, the father of surgery and Ayurvedic Physician Charaka, the father of medicine, described how a disease spread from person to person and within communities in Sushruta samhita and Charaka samhita. Both recognized that by following certain hygienic practices the spread of infection could be prevented. Breathing, touching and eating/drinking contaminated food/beverages is the main cause of spread of diseaes resulting in mass destruction of human life in a short period of time. Sushruta developed several surgical techniques and appropriate instruments for surgery. He was the first to use a face mask to prevent spread of pathogens during surgery. Charaka was the first one to suggest the use of cloth (Plain or herbal treated) to cover the face (Nose and mouth) to prevent spread of pathogens. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of wearing a face mask to prevent the spread of the coronavirus was recognized by health experts, health care workers, and communities. At present (October, 2020), there are no vaccines or drugs specifically to prevent infection and cure the disease. The only way is social distancing, detection of infected and isolation and wearing a face mask. Face mask is the physical barrier and non pharmaceutical way of preventing contracting disease. The face mask prevents droplet carrying virus transmission by filtering inhaled and exhaled air. This measure reduces the critical mass of the virus that are required to manifest disease in a person. Exposure to certain small amounts of a virus may induce favorable host immunity, May enhance the formation of herd immunity in a community. There are a variety of face masks. Face mask not only filter viruses, microbes, pollens and dust particle but also acts as barrier to spray of mouth saliva and nasal droplet's aerosol. Single-use surgical masks used by healthcare workers are very efficient, filtering 80-99% of viruses. However, these are expensive and also generate enormous waste. Multiple-use face masks are made from cloth with multiple layers and pleats and are less expensive with less efficient filters (60-70%). They are reusable after cleaning and sanitization and will hence reduce created waste. Multiple-use face masks are overall the best option to be used by the public community. Some face masks also come with copper salts and other material impregnations, which increase their efficiency in preventing disease contraction. There are also Ayurvedic face masks made from hand-woven cloth, muslin cloth, silk, and khadi. These face masks are soaked with medicinal plant decoction that have antiviral properties. Turmeric for example exhibits antiviral activity in cell culture towards many human viruses, Mouse Mammary tumor Virus, in mouse model (Dr. Nagabhushan Moolky, 1987), Human Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) (Dr. Nagabhushan Moolky, 1997), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Human T-lymphotropic virus-1 (HTLV1), Ebola virus, Norovirus, Chikungunya virus, Dengue fever virus, Zika virus, H1N1 virus, Japanese encephalitis virus, Herpes simplex virus type 1 & 2 (HSV–1 & 2), Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV1), HIV2, Influenza A virus and Hepatitis B & C virus. A molecular docking study has shown that the active compound of turmeric curcumins has the potential to kill COVID-19. Making home made Turmeric Face Mask is simple and inexpensive. Boil turmeric powder in water for 10 minutes. Add few drops of virgin coconut oil and lemon juice. Both virgin coconut oil and citric acid in lemon juice has anti vital activity. May enhance the antiviral activity turmeric(Curcumins). Dip the cloth face mask. Dry after washing or without washing. Drying not to be done in direct sunlight. Copyrighted by Dr. Nagabhushan Moolky
