Abstract: Skin the largest organ of our body which always connected and exposed to the environment 24/7. It is a primary organ visible to the world and connected to he emotions . Skin diseases are very common these days with the sedentary , lifestyle, pollution and food style. Modern and Contemporary science offers only limited medications to treat skin diseases and Ayurveda instead offers wholistic approach to treat and bring the balance back in skin disorders. Understanding of Doshiic dominance, nature of the skin lesion, assessment of Agni, mala, ama and doshic level becomes important criteria while treating skin diseases. So knowledge of different causative factors, diet also plays a important role apart from panchkarma (purification therapy) for a successful treatment. Common to see is Psoriasis which is one of the most common human skin diseases. Psoriasis is a chronic, proliferative, and inflammatory skin disease. Majority of the dermatological disorders have been described under the roof of Kushtha in Ayurveda. Psoriasis is mostly comparable with two varieties of kshudrakustha ie. Eka Kustha and Kitibha Kustha and also with a variety mahakustha i.e., Sidhma Kustha. Due to the close resemblance, the treatment procedures along with various formulations mentioned in skin disorders of Ayurveda can be applied in psoriasis which adds new dimensions in management of such a chronic and complex disease. This presentation will help us to elaborate the understanding of different skin diseases, assessment method, different criteria, treatment principles and discuss about the successfully treated cases through ayurveda. Ayurveda has given lot of importance to maintenance of health during various season. So following particular panchakarma procedures and taking proper herbs during this seasons are good for maintaining healthy skin. Another one process rather than Shamana and Shodhana Chikitsa mentioned by various acharyas but Vagbhata Acharya states lepan as the prathama primary chikitsa. Psoriasis is mostly comparable with two varieties of kshudrakustha ie. Eka kustha and Kitibha Kustha and also with a variety mahakustha i.e., Sidhma kustha. Due to the close resemblance, the treatment procedures along with various formulations mentioned in skin disorders of Ayurveda can be applied in psoriasis which adds all new dimensions in management of such a chronic and complex disease. Psoriasis is a chronic, non-contagious disorder which affects the skin and joints, characterized by flaking, redness and inflammation of the skin. Once thought to be a skin disorder, psoriasis is now understood to be a condition originating in the immune system. The, scaly patches caused by psoriasis called, psoriatic plaques, are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes on a silvery-white appearance. Plaques frequently occur on the skin of the elbows and knees but can affect any area including the scalp and genitals. In contrast to eczema, psoriasis is more likely to be found on the extensor aspect of the joint. Having worked with numerous clients for over twenty years, in my experience I have understood that Diet and lifestyle changes play the most important role in the management of Psoriasis. Lets re - learn diet and lifestyle and herbs to maintain skin health, by building immunity, so that prevent skin disease and promote happiness & longevity! Whole person Healing Approach. Trayopstambh the basic pillars of life to gain the Healthy Skin .
