Abstract: Skin is the largest sense organ of our body and is the main index of the internal environment of our body. Thyroid abnormality is one such pathology which produces skin manifestations along with other symptoms. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism produce different dermatological manifestations which sometimes may pose a challenge to the dermatologists. Dry skin, hyperkeratosis, hair loss are a few dermatological symptoms of hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism cannot be directly correlated to any disease in Ayurveda. Depending on the symptomatology it can be understood as kapha avruta udana vata. Adoptation of kapha vata balancing chikitsa, avarana chikitsa and rasayana chikitsa helps to check the main pathology. This in turn also pacifies the associated symptoms. Yet dermatological manifestations need a special focus and intense management due to their cosmetologically importance. Ayurveda blesses the mankind with several drugs and procedures which help to tackle the cutaneous manifestations in a more simple and natural way. All the medicines and treatment procedures will be discussed in the presentation.
