Abstract: Beauty is an essential component of health; therefore, complete beauty has all those dimensions which define health. Cosmetology is the science of alternation of appearance and modification of beauty. The theme of this paper addresses all the aspects of beauty with the main thrust areas such as basic concepts in Ayurveda and Applied aspects of Beauty, especially, Skin & its relation with Health and Disease. The concept of using herbs for beautification is well defined in Ayurveda. Ayurveda emphasizes external and internal beauty with the holistic approach of Panchakarma various para-surgical measures like Kshara & Agni Karma, Shamana Chikitsa & Achrara Rasayan. The prime aim of this paper is to enlighten over the safe and cost-effective beautifying herbal formulations & regimes embedded in the lore of Ayurvedic Literature for Skin problems. In this paper, many practically proven and safest formulations related to different conditions viz. Acne vulgaris, Blemishes, Foots Cracks, moles, etc., are narrated based on the critical review from various Ayurvedic sculptures, e.g., Bruhattrayi, Laghutrayi, and practical experiences. Throughout the Bruhatatrayi and Laghutrayi, there are scattered references and multiple effective and easy remedies for the above entities. All these remedies can be classified into external and internal administration as home care; various therapeutic approach at OPD; IPD levels. Based on the above review, we can make a primary platform for establishing SOP, i.e., standard operative procedures for Ayurvedic cosmetology, especially for skin problems, which is the most upcoming branch for its wide acceptance at the global level.
