Topic: Clinical assessment of Diabetes Mellitus-Ayurveda Review
Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus(DM) Can be Correlated to Madhumeha in Ayurveda Science. In this disease, Gradual involvement of doshas, multiple dooshyas, and involvement of Vital part i.e urinary organs are involved. Based on its classifications, the Sahaja type is correlated to Type 1 DM and Apathyanimittaja is classified as Type 2 DM. When we look at,20 urinary symptoms of Madhumeha explained in classics can be correlated to inflammatory conditions involved with metabolic syndrome and DM with infections. Also, we can take DM with nephropathy. As per Ashtanga Hridaya Textbook, where classified it into avaranaja (obstructive type) and Dhatukshayaja madhumeha (Debilitative type) Based on this , We need to manage the disease through an integrated approach in terms of Diet, Exercise and other Lifestyle measures explained in classics. Hence, in this presentation, i am going to highlight the Whole system protocol for the management of diabetes through the clinical assessment in Ayurveda.
