Topic: Ayurvedic Trends in Therapeutic Approach for Alcoholic Liver Disease

Abstract: Alcoholic Liver Disease or ALD corresponds to liver tissue damage which occurs as a consequence of excessive alcohol consumption. It contributes to considerable morbidity and mortality among the individuals suffering from this menace. Conventional therapies offer less solace in this regard but causes unwanted side effects. Ayurveda is an oasis in the approach to hepatobiliary disorders and ALD is not different. Evaluation of doshic variations at different stages of ALD, status of agni and srotodushti is done to assess and formulate treatment protocols accordingly. Herbal and herbomineral preparations following detoxification are at helm of treatment protocols. Yoga, Praanaayaam and dietary modifications are as important a component of therapy.
