Vivek Shanbhag, ND, MD (Ayu), BAMS, CYEd is a renowned physician, professor, researcher & author. He is a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor in the US. For more than 30 years, he has successfully run various institutions for promoting Ayurveda in India, USA & Japan. During 1985-88 he was the Head of the Institute of Ayurvedic Research in Poona, India. During 1989 thru 2006, for 17 years in Seattle, he was the Founder & Director of the AYU Ayurvedic Wellness Centre - Academy, Clinic & Spa. These successful businesses were purchased by a multinational company in 2006. During 1991-96, he was the Chairman of the Ayurvedic Medicine Department at the Bastyr University in Seattle. He travels all over USA, Japan & India for clinical teaching and medical consultations. He is a sought-after popular speaker and has been a keynote speaker at many international conferences. Currently, Dr. Shanbhag is a faculty member of Bastyr University in Seattle, MMI College of Ayurveda in Watsonville and Sai Ayurvedic College in Miami. He is also a Faculty Member & Advisor for Japan Ayurveda Association, Tokyo. He is the best-seller author of “Beginner’s Introduction to Ayurveda” by Keats Publishing. In 1988, Dr. Shanbhag was awarded the prestigious I.I.M. Gold Medal for his MD (Ayurveda, India) Research Thesis. In 2008, International Academy of Ayurveda Physicians honored him with the Vishwa Ayurveda Ratna Award. In 2010, he won the Award for Excellence in Ayurvedic Teaching by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America. His 16 years of education in Ayurveda, Naturopathic Medicine & Yoga includes 4 years ND at Bastyr University, 4 ½ years MD (Ayurved) at Poona University, 5 ½ years BAMS at Karnataka University and 2 years Certified Yoga Educator Training at Karnataka University.

Introduction: The time tested and scientifically proven sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda have used SATTVA as the main tool in both preventing and treating most cancers. Documented evidence demonstrates that both Yoga & Ayurveda have successfully prevented and treated various cancers using Sattva increasing nutrition, Sattva increasing exercises and asana, Sattva increasing pranayama and dhyan, Sattva increasing culinary and therapeutic herbs, Sattva increasing Dinacharya & Ritucharya, Sattva increasing Oushadhi-Rasayana and Achar-Rasayana. This presentation is based on References of Research Data collected from articles published in US, Europe, Japan and India It is also based on Dr. Vivek Shanbhag’s 30 years Licensed Clinical Practice in Pune-India, Seattle-USA, Goa-India and San Jose-USA.
