Healthy and Radiant Skin - Dr. Pratibha Shah
Ayurvedic solutions for a healthy and radiant skin
Skin as an organ has been described in intricate details in ancient Ayurvedic treatises. Skin covers and houses numerous tissues and channels including muscles, blood vessels, nerves and glands such as sweat glands and oil glands. Therefore care of skin is a complex matter and requires much more than external measures alone. Ayurveda offers excellent solutions for acquiring a healthy, beautiful and radiant skin. These remedies and tips are of course customized according to the skin type of the individual, which in turn is dictated, by the individual's body type. As with most other topics, these pearls of wisdom are found scattered throughout the Ayurvedic literature. This presentation is an attempt to string together the main underlying principles of skin care as found in the Ayurvedic treatises and present comprehensive strategies to care for one’s skin. The speaker will also elaborate on some simple and effective solutions for daily care of the skin as well as for common skin conditions such as acne, blemishes, dark circles and others.
