Dr. Tirun Gopal is an obstetrician and gynecologist trained in the US and practicing in Allentown, PA, for the past 32 years. He is a graduate of the Open International University for Complementary Medicine and obtained his certification in ayurveda from the New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine 15 years ago. He received certification in medical acupuncture 5 years ago from the University of California, Berkeley, USA. He is currently pursuing the study of homeopathy. His book “Sacred Relationships” was recently published electronically and is available for download from Solstice Publishing.
Abstract: This presentation on “Stree Rogam” starts with a definition of “Stree”, the woman and defines the female reproductive tract. Various female disorders of the reproductive tract, namely bleeding disorders, infections of the vagina and uterus, abnormalities in development of the reproductive tract and infertility are addressed. Conditions of the breast, namely infection and masses, as well as fibrocystic disease of the breast are explained. Treatments for a wide variety of female reproductive disorders will be discussed, including herbs, which are effective in such treatments. Common, prevalent problems of premenstrual syndrome will be discussed, including the ayurvedic and traditional definitions and treatment. Finally, menopause, the increase in risk for heart attacks and osteoporosis, and steps to be taken to reduce these risks will be delineated.
