Holistic ayurvedic protocol for chronic fatigue syndrome: Case study and research implications - Dr. Jajbir Singh
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a complex, multi-system disorder characterized by persistent, unexplained fatigue and a constellation of physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms that significantly impair daily functioning. Modern biomedicine offers symptomatic management but often fails to provide sustainable relief. This case study explores the efficacy of an individualized holistic Ayurvedic protocol integrating Ahara (diet), Vihara (lifestyle), Aushadhi (herbal formulations), and Yoga practices in the management of CFS. The intervention emphasized Agni Deepana, Ama Pachana, Rasayana therapy, and psychosomatic balance through Pranayama and Dhyana. Clinical assessments based on the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) and WHOQOL indicators revealed marked improvement in physical stamina, cognitive clarity, and emotional well-being. The findings suggest that Ayurvedic interventions, when customized according to Prakriti and Vikriti analysis, can effectively modulate neuroendocrine and immune functions, addressing the root causes of fatigue. The research implications highlight the potential of integrative Ayurvedic approaches in developing standardized, evidence-based therapeutic models for chronic fatigue and related stress-induced disorders. Further multi-centric clinical trials and biochemical validation are recommended to substantiate these outcomes and enhance translational applicability in global health frameworks.
