Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), is characterized by persistent, unexplained fatigue lasting more than six months, often accompanied with cognitive impairment, unrefreshing sleep, and post-exertional malaise Ayurveda provides a holistic understanding and managing such condition Objective:To explore the correlation between CFS and Ayurvedic concepts, and to present an integrative management approach that may improve quality of life in affected individuals. Methods: In Ayurveda, Lakshanas of CFS can be corelated with Klama, Shrama, and Dhatukshaya. Ayurvedic management principles, including Rasayana therapy, Panchakarma, dietary regulation (Ahara), lifestyle modification (Vihara), and mental wellness practices (Sattvavajaya), were reviewed. Discussion: CFS symptoms resembles closely with Ayurvedic descriptions of Klama (fatigue) and Dhatukshaya (tissue depletion), which are often linked to Vata and Kapha imbalance and Agni dysfunction. Ayurvedic interventions focus on restoring Ojas (vitality), enhancing digestive and metabolic functions, and strengthening the mind-body system. Preliminary clinical and observational reports suggest that integrative protocols may reduce fatigue severity, improve sleep, and enhance daily functioning. Conclusion: An Ayurvedic approach, integrated with conventional care, offers a promising complementary strategy for CFS management. Further clinical studies are needed to validate efficacy and establish evidence-based protocols.
