Prof. Shri Gupta, PhD, Florida, USA - is an electronics engineer and a six sigma black belt by profession. He did his undergraduate degree at IIT Kanpur in India and then completed his PhD at Cornell University, USA, in electrical engineering. He started his career as a faculty member at a graduate school in Baja California, Mexico. He then moved to India to work as a research scientist in the design and development of Integrated Circuits in a leading research lab CEERI. He then worked in senior management positions in corporations such as Digital and Motorola in Europe. During his career, he has published over 50 papers in reputed professional journals and presented papers in professional conferences. He was finally transferred to Motorola's plant in south Florida, USA where he acquired his certifications in six sigma. After retirement, he has been consulting as a six sigma professional. He has consulted with companies such as Univision, Broward Health and Magic Leap. He has always had a deep interest in Vedanta and alternative techniques such as naturopathy, Paida-Lajin, Ayurveda, neuro therapy, rife therapy, block therapy etc. He has attended and conducted workshops in these techniques in several countries. Currently he is working with Florida, US based International Hindu University to establish a School of Vedic Sciences. Topic: Langhanam (Fasting): Personal Experience Abstract: This presentation explores Langhanam (therapeutic fasting) through personal experience and traditional Jain wisdom. I learned the disciplined method of fasting directly from an ayurvedic master Jain Muni, whose guidance emphasized both physiological purification and mental clarity. Applying this practice in my early thirties, I experienced complete relief from severe arthritis without medication. The same Jain Muni successfully helped many individuals overcome cancer and other chronic ailments through structured fasting and spiritual discipline. My talk highlights the principles behind Langhanam, its transformative impact on my health, and its potential as a complementary approach in managing complex diseases.
Prof. Suresh Swarnapuri, BAMS, MD (Ayu), FBAA (London), Cork City, Ireland - is an internationally recognized Ayurvedic physician, educator, and healthcare leader with more than 35 years of clinical experience in Ayurvedic medicine, having practiced since 1988. Widely regarded as one of Europe's leading Ayurvedic practitioners, he has played a significant role in advancing the education, clinical practice, and global recognition of Ayurveda across Europe and beyond. He earned his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Ayurveda, and is a Fellow of the British Ayurvedic Academy (FBAA), London. His international career began at the Maharishi International Foundation in the Netherlands, where he served for three years, gaining extensive experience in the application and teaching of classical Ayurvedic medicine. Topic: Ayurvedic Management in Hodgkin’s Disease: A Case Report Integrating the Concepts of Granthi, Apachi, and Mamsa Arbuda with Contemporary Lymphoma Science Abstract: Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL) is a B-cell–derived malignancy of the lymphatic system characterized by Reed–Sternberg cells and clonal lymphocyte proliferation. While chemoradiation ensures high survival, long-term complications such as avascular necrosis (AVN) due to corticosteroids significantly affect quality of life. Ayurveda correlates HL with Granthi, Apachi, and Mamsarbuda, representing nodular and malignant pathologies due to Dosha imbalance. AVN can be interpreted as Sandhigata Vata, involving Asthi-Majja Kshaya. Objectives:To document the outcome of an HL case managed through Ayurveda post-conventional therapy and evaluate its role in managing steroid-induced AVN. Methods: A 22-year-old female with HL (Nodular Sclerosis type, 2010) presented in 2012 with AVN, severe hip pain, and restricted mobility. Ayurvedic assessment revealed Pitta-Vata imbalance, Vishamagni, and Dhatu vitiation. Treatment (Aug 2012–Aug 2013) included Amruthotharam Kashayam, Ksheerabala 101, Balarishta, Yogaraj Guggulu, Abhyanga, and Matra Basti. Pranayama and dietary regulation were advised. Outcomes were assessed clinically, hematological, and radiologically. Results:Significant pain relief and improved mobility were observed, with restoration of normal gait. Hematological parameters normalized, and imaging showed reduced femoral necrosis progression. No adverse interactions were reported. Conclusion: Ayurveda demonstrates potential as a complementary approach in managing post-treatment complications of HL, especially AVN. Further evidence-based studies are warranted. Prof. Mohammed Babul Akter, BAMS, MD (Ayu), PhD (Ayu), Dhaka, Bangladesh - is a distinguished Ayurvedic physician, academic, researcher, and educator serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Ayurvedic Medicine at Hamdard University Bangladesh. With extensive experience in Ayurvedic education, clinical practice, pharmaceutical research, and academic leadership, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of traditional medicine in Bangladesh and internationally.He earned his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from the University of Dhaka in 1995 and completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Ayurveda at Gujarat Ayurved University, India, in 2006. He subsequently obtained a Ph.D. in Ayurveda (Pharmacy) from Jahangirnagar University (2010–2011) under the supervision of Prof. M. Sahabuddin Kabir Choudhuri, specializing in Ayurvedic pharmaceutical sciences and medicinal plant research. Professor Akter has authored five books and published more than twelve peer-reviewed research papers in national and international scientific journals. He has also presented over twenty scientific papers at national and international conferences, contributing to the scientific validation and global recognition of Ayurvedic medicine. Beyond teaching and research, Professor Akter plays an active role in academic administration and policy development. Topic: Preclinical Evidence Supporting Psychotria adenophylla as a Complementary Botanical Candidate in Integrative Cancer Care Abstract: The methanolic leaf extract of Psychotria adenophylla (MEPA) was investigated for its selective anticancer potential using integrated in vitro, in vivo, and in silico approaches. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis identified 45 bioactive phytochemicals, including flavonoids, triterpenoids, and phenolic acids. MEPA demonstrated significant antioxidant activity with a DPPH IC₅₀ of 37.10 ± 9.99 µg/mL. In cytotoxicity assays, the extract exhibited potent activity against HeLa cervical cancer cells, with an IC₅₀ of 62.5 ± 4.28 µg/mL and approximately 85% growth inhibition at 200 µg/mL. In contrast, it showed low general toxicity in the brine shrimp lethality assay (LC₅₀ > 800 µg/mL), indicating a favorable cancer cell selectivity profile. In the Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) mouse model, oral administration of MEPA (500 mg/kg) significantly reduced tumor weight by 58.7% and viable tumor cell count by 81.8% (p < 0.01). Molecular docking studies further demonstrated strong binding affinities of major phytoconstituents toward key oncogenic protein targets, supporting the observed biological activities. Collectively, these findings indicate that Psychotria adenophylla leaf extract possesses potent antioxidant and selective anticancer properties, highlighting its potential as a promising natural source for the development of novel anticancer therapeutics.
