Topic: Bridging Psychology and Ayurveda: An Integrative Path to Mind-Body Wellness
Abstract: In today’s fast-paced world, the prevalence of stress, anxiety, and lifestyle-related disorders highlights the urgent need for a holistic approach to health. While psychology provides valuable insights into human behavior and mental processes, Ayurveda offers a time-tested framework for balancing body, mind, and spirit. Integrating these two disciplines opens powerful possibilities for addressing modern health challenges at their root. This presentation explores the synergy between psychology and Ayurveda, highlighting how concepts such as manas prakriti (psychological constitution), gunas (qualities of the mind), and ojas (vital essence) can be understood and applied alongside psychological theories of
cognition, behavior, and emotional regulation. Drawing upon both classical Ayurvedic texts and contemporary psychological models, this talk will illustrate how practitioners can use integrative approaches for conditions such as stress, insomnia, anxiety, and lifestyle-induced imbalances.
Special emphasis will be placed on practical applications, including:
● Using Ayurvedic assessment tools with psychological insights for holistic diagnosis.
● Lifestyle, diet, and Panchakarma therapies tailored for mind-body balance.
● The role of Marma therapy, meditation, and mindfulness as bridges between ancient
practices and modern psychology.
By weaving together ancient wisdom and modern science, this presentation seeks to inspire a model of care that is preventive, personalized, and sustainable. Such an integrative path not only promotes healing but also empowers individuals to cultivate resilience, emotional stability, and long-term well-being.

It is believed that around 650 BCE Acharya Sushruta pioneered and invented surgical instrumentation, surgical techniques and performed a variety of surgeries, These were documented as Sushruta Samhita written in Sanskrit. One of the famous surgical procedures of Sushruta was the reconstruction of the nose (Plastic surgery). There are many misconceptions and paintings of Sushruta performing surgery, these include surgical patients are tied or held by others, screaming with pain, casually sitting and performing surgery was painted by a American artist in 1948. The earliest surviving painting was from 600 AD shows Sushruta students practicing surgery with vegetables. Sushruta gave the utmost importance to hygiene and minimal pain to patients that is expressed in his writings, about the qualification of a nurse. Anesthesia was discovered and used by Sushruta. Sushruta advocates use of fermented medicinal plants (Bhang, Cannabis). Bhang, Ganja/marijuana & opium, smoke delivered during and after surgery for pain control. Marma Therapy, with or without medicinal plants decoctions, asava and arista were used for controlling pain and numbing certain parts of the body. Topic: Key Molecules and Ayurveda for Perfect Health
Abstract: The interaction between anandamide and nitric oxide (NO) is a compelling area of research, especially in the context of neurobiology and vascular health. Here's how they relate:
Anandamide and Nitric Oxide in the Brain
Neurotransmission and Synaptic Plasticity
Anandamide, as part of the endocannabinoid system (ECS), modulates neurotransmission by binding to CB1 receptors in the brain. This can influence the release of nitric oxide, a gaseous neurotransmitter involved in:
Vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), Neuroprotection, Synaptic plasticity (learning and memory), TRPV1 Channel Activation
Anandamide also activates TRPV1 receptors (transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1), which are involved in pain perception and inflammation. Activation of TRPV1 can lead to increased nitric oxide production, especially in neurons and endothelial cells 1.
Neuronal Excitability and Epilepsy A 2020 review in Brain Structure and Function describes a “three-ring circus” involving cannabinoids, TRPV1, and nitric oxide, suggesting that these systems interact to regulate neuronal excitability. Disruption in this balance may contribute to conditions like epilepsy 1.
Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health - Anandamide can stimulate nitric oxide release in vascular endothelial cells, promoting vasodilation and potentially lowering blood pressure. This interaction is also relevant in metabolic regulation, as both molecules influence insulin sensitivity and inflammation.

Topic: Burnout to Balance: Ayurveda’s Path to a Clear, Confident Mind
Abstract: Ayurveda defines perfect health not just as the absence of disease, but as a state where the doshas are balanced, digestion is strong, tissues are nourished, wastes are eliminated properly, and the mind, senses, and soul are blissfully content. Yet today, many live in a chronic state of disconnection, overstimulation, and emotional exhaustion. The modern epidemic of burnout, overwhelm, and anxiety is not just a mental issue—it’s a loss of rhythm, a depletion of Ojas, and a disturbance of Sattva, the essence of clarity and inner harmony. In this talk, we’ll explore a practical Ayurvedic roadmap to transform mental turbulence into grounded clarity, self-trust, and emotional freedom. Through the lens of Sattva (purity), Rajas (agitation), and Tamas (inertia), we’ll uncover how sensory overload, poor routines, and emotional suppression distort perception and behavior—and how to reset the mind using daily rituals, sattvic food, sense therapies, and intentional living. Participants will be guided through a short live practice to experience the shift from mind-chaos to calm presence, and leave with a three-step “mental reset map” they can begin using right away—whether for themselves or in supporting others on their healing path.

Topic: Driven But Drained: The Hidden Side of Anxiety Through Ayurveda and the Nervous System
Abstract: Anxiety is increasingly recognized as a multisystem disorder involving both neurophysiological and psychosomatic dimensions. Chronic activation of the sympathetic nervous system can produce widespread somatic effects, including gastrointestinal disturbances, muscle tension, and cutaneous symptoms such as dryness and inflammation. Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine, conceptualizes anxiety as an aggravation of Vata dosha, associated with irregularity, dryness, and heightened neural activity. Vata imbalance disrupts manovaha srotas (mental pathways) and rasa dhatu (plasma/lymph), contributing to both psychological and dermatological symptoms.
High-functioning anxiety, characterized by external competence alongside internal distress and often goes undetected in clinical settings. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this reflects rajasic mental disturbance and Vata-driven instability in the nervous system. Sociocultural influences, including digital exposure and social comparison, exacerbate these imbalances, mirroring concepts such as asmita (ego identification) and mano vega (mental agitation).
This presentation integrates clinical neuroscience and Ayurvedic diagnostics to provide a comprehensive understanding of anxiety. It outlines complementary interventions, including lifestyle regulation, somatic therapies, and Ayurvedic treatments such as abhyanga, basti, and medhya rasayanas, to support autonomic balance and psycho-dermatological health.

Topic: Indriyas - Portals to Presence
Abstract: Bringing presence into a predominantly fear-based world, where an overstimulation of the Indiyas is at an all-time high, where we are seeing an overwhelming increase of mental imbalances and a disruption in the relationship with self, now more than ever, it is time to educate on the power of the Indriyas - The portals to presence. When one is overcome with emotions such as fear, there is a lack of presence. When one is eating while scrolling for extended periods, there is a lack of presence and an overstimulation of the senses. As Ayurvedic Practitioners, we must suggest practical practices that create presence and awareness of the indriyas to sharpen their use, creating portals to presence because they offer a direct and immediate connection to the present moment. This allows the cultivation of awareness, mindfulness, and a deeper connection to oneself and surroundings. The 5-4-3-2-1 method is a fun and practical way to educate on the senses, where one identifies five things they can see, four things they can touch, three things they can hear, two things they can smell, and one thing they can taste. This method is creating significant change for the individual. Guiding one towards presence not only changes one's internal environment, but it eventually changes the home environment, communities, and the world, and it begins with self-awareness. Sharpening the indriyas also creates the possibility for one to move into more advanced practices, such as Pratyahara, where one withdraws from the indriyas to cultivate internal awareness and access intuition. However, this requires a prior understanding of the indriyas. So, how do we begin to teach such concepts in an overstimulated world? We need to create fun and practical methods that encourage a different way of life than what is currently being promoted in these times.

Topic: Perfect Health Begins in the Gut: Rediscovering the Gut-Brain Axis Through Ayurveda's Timeless Wisdom
Abstract:  Modern breakthroughs in microbiome science now affirm what Ayurveda recognized over 5,000 years ago: that gut health is central to mental, emotional, and systemic well-being. This presentation explores Ayurveda’s sophisticated food therapeutics, with a focus on traditional fermented preparations such as Takra, Kanji, and Dahi bath, as well as advanced polyherbal formulations like Ashwagandharishta, Saraswatarishta, Draksharishta, and Triphala. These time-tested remedies nurture beneficial gut microbes, reduce systemic inflammation, modulate brain function, and support cognitive and emotional resilience. Rich in psychobiotic herbs and microbial metabolites, classical Asava and Arishta preparations align with modern insights in neuro-gastroenterology, including cortisol regulation, neurotransmitter synthesis, and gut–brain signaling.
Through an interdisciplinary analysis bridging peer-reviewed microbiome studies and Ayurvedic Ahara Vidhi (dietary science), this research demonstrates how:
• Ancient Indian medicine developed a nuanced understanding of gut–brain communication;
• Traditional fermentation techniques cultivated beneficial microbial ecosystems;
• Food–herb synergies were intentionally designed to optimize mental and metabolic health.
This synthesis highlights Ayurveda’s ecosystem-based model of gut–mind health. It positions Ayurveda not merely as a traditional healing system, but as a scientifically grounded, culturally rooted, and sustainable framework for optimizing the gut–brain axis in the 21st century. Integrating Ayurveda’s systemic and preventive approach with modern microbiome science offers a powerful pathway to mental clarity, emotional balance, and lifelong well-being, starting in the gut.

Topic: Ayurvedic Approach to Prevent Mild Cognitive Decline (MCD)
Abstract: Cognitive functions of the brain encompass various skills, including attention, memory, language, reasoning and problem-solving. Cognitive Impairment (MCI), also referred to as Mild Cognitive Dysfunction (MCD), is characterized as a stage of cognitive impairment between normal aging and the more serious decline of dementia. Its prevalence increases with age, affecting approximately 15–20% of individuals over 60 years. Among those over 65, there is a significant risk of progression to dementia within a year. Current biomedical treatments for MCI remain largely symptomatic, with no definitive cure available. In Ayurveda, cognitive decline is described as Smriti-Buddhi Kshaya or Hrasa. Ayurvedic texts recommend the use of Medhya Rasayana—a class of rejuvenating herbs such as Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), and Shankhapushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis)—which are considered neuroprotective. Systematic reviews support their potential in reducing age- related cognitive decline, combating oxidative stress, and improving memory retention. Additionally, therapies such as Shiroabhyanga, Shirodhara, Nasya, and lifestyle interventions including healthy diet, meditation and Pranayama have shown to enhance neuroplasticity, cerebral circulation, and neurotransmission, contributing to improved cognitive function. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the Ayurvedic understanding of MCI, its pathogenesis, and an evidence-based multimodal treatment approach integrating herbal, therapeutic, and lifestyle interventions. The aim is to explore how traditional Ayurvedic practices can help preventing and managing the cognitive decline, to support brain health in aging populations.

Topic: The impact of Sathvrutha on Mano Vikaras
Abstract: This discussion aims to illuminate the practical application of Sad Vrtta and its profound benefits, not only for individual health but also for societal well-being. Sad Vrtta, a vital aspect of Svastha Vrtta, extends beyond the physical realm of disease prevention through dinacarya (daily routines) and delves into the mental and emotional dimensions of health. It encourages self-awareness and mindful living, promoting a holistic approach that considers the mind (manas) as integral to overall wellness. By practicing Sad Vrtta, individuals can cultivate mental stability, ethical conduct, and emotional balance, which in turn foster healthier communities. Conversely, neglecting Sad Vrtta can lead to various disorders such as Bhuta Graha (malefic influences of spirits), Unmada (psychosis), Apasmara (epilepsy), and Atattvabhinivesha (attachment to false ego or identity). Understanding these connections underscores the importance of integrating Sad Vrtta into daily life, as it plays a crucial role in maintaining mental harmony and preventing mental and spiritual afflictions. Ultimately, embracing Sad Vrtta supports a comprehensive approach to health—balancing body, mind, and societal harmony—aligning with the core principles of Ayurveda for a more fulfilled, healthy life.

Topic: Make America Swastha Again: With Yoga-driven Ayurvedic Medicine
Abstract: The rising burden of chronic disease, mental health crises, and unsustainable healthcare costs in the United States demands a fundamental shift toward whole-person care. "Make America Healthy Again" rightly diagnoses the systemic failures in reactive, fragmented, and profit-driven models of health. We propose consciousness-focused Ayurvedic healing—anchored in the traditional wisdom systems of Ayurveda and Yoga—as a cost-effective, sustainable, and person-centered solution to this public health crisis. Ayurveda offers more than herbal remedies or wellness tips; it is a sophisticated system of preventive and promotive health rooted in the science of life (Ayus). Its foundation in consciousness recognizes the human being as a multidimensional whole—body (annamaya), energy (pranamaya), mind (manomaya), wisdom (vijnanamaya), and spirit (anandamaya). When healing includes this panchakosha framework, care becomes not only symptom-alleviating but transcendentally healing. Economically, this paradigm offers significant cost advantages. Studies show that lifestyle-based interventions rooted in these traditions reduce hospital admissions, improve management of diabetes, hypertension, and anxiety, and cut pharmaceutical dependence. An upstream investment in traditional systems could yield long-term savings to the insurance companies. Ayurvedic programs focused on svasthya (being rooted in the Self) promote health literacy, self-agency, and community participation, reducing burden on overstretched systems. By scaling consciousness-based healing frameworks, we move from transactional care to transformational health. Leveraging certified Yoga therapists and trained Ayurvedic professionals as frontline wellness guides can democratize access. Reclaiming these time-tested, culturally resonant, and low-cost healing sciences is not just a return to our roots—it is a strategic leap toward a healthier, more resilient America.

Topic: Gut Microbiome imbalances and Ulcerative Colitis
Abstract:
The gut microbiome plays a central role in digestion, immunity, and inflammation. Dysbiosis is strongly linked to chronic gastrointestinal diseases, with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) being among the most challenging autoimmune conditions. Modern science attributes UC to microbial imbalance, leaky gut, and immune dysfunction, while Ayurveda described these mechanisms centuries ago through Agni (digestive fire), Ama (toxins), and Ojas (vitality).
According to Ayurveda, weak Agni produces Ama, which accumulates in the colon and aggravates Pitta and Vata, manifesting as ulceration, inflammation, pain, and bleeding. Treatment therefore aims not only at symptom relief but at correcting the root imbalance in digestion, immunity, and tissue strength.
Ayurvedic management of UC includes:
• Agni Deepana & Ama Pachana – restoring digestion and clearing toxins.
• Shodhana – gentle detoxification and cleansing of the gut.
• Shamana – pacification therapies using herbs to balance Pitta and Vata.
• Rasayana – rejuvenation to enhance Ojas and prevent relapses.
By integrating these principles, Ayurveda offers a safe, root-cause–based approach to managing Ulcerative Colitis. Clinical experiences show significant improvements in inflammation, mucosal healing, immunity, and overall quality of life. This presentation will highlight how Ayurvedic protocols align with modern microbiome research, demonstrating their effectiveness in both prevention and long-term remission of Ulcerative Colitis.

Jeffrey Smith, MBA, California, USA - is a bestselling author, award-winning filmmaker and leading spokesperson on GMO health dangers who has presented in more than 40 countries. He will share information from his forthcoming book, Claiming Your Magic. Jeffrey developed techniques which use the quantum aspect of consciousness to help people heal and achieve life-changing breakthroughs. A lab confirmed that his quantum attention instantly shifts subjects’ brainwaves—even in another room. Before-and-after data confirm dramatic improvements in brain function, while subjects report unprecedented transformations. Jeffrey explains that physics identifies the quantum as the unmanifest source of everything. Ancient traditions, including the Veda, describe it as an accessible field of consciousness. In fact it was Jeffrey’s nearly 50,000 hours in meditation that gave him quantum access at all times. After working with thousands, he developed a system that teaches others to also access and apply the quantum.
Topic: How to Use Quantum Consciousness for Healing
Abstract: Inside you is a powerful vast resource described by ancient traditions and verified by quantum physics. Gain access and you unlock the ability to promote health and personal growth at astonishing speed. When Jeffrey Smith applied this “quantum aspect of consciousness” to subjects at a lab, even when they were in another room their brainwaves shifted immediately. More importantly, they reported breakthroughs similar to the thousands of people Jeffrey worked with over 30 years. Quantum Reprogramming, for example, released subconscious patterns they had struggled with for decades. Quantum Installation gave them greater ongoing access to this bigger field. These are just a few of the many techniques described in his forthcoming book, Claiming Your Magic. In the foreword, Bruce Lipton, bestselling author of Biology of Belief, wrote: “Jeffrey teaches how to use these profound practices for themselves and others. I highly recommend it as a powerful resource that can empower you and support you in creating a life of Heaven-on-Earth.” Although the world knows Jeffrey Smith as the leading voice on GMO health dangers, while producing books, documentaries, and presentations worldwide, he lived a parallel life—quietly refining this profound system of Quantum Magic. Jeffrey will be sharing the theory and practice of quantum consciousness and how it relates to the ancient wisdom and modern application of Ayurveda.

Topic: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Meets Ayurveda: Unlocking Potential & Avoiding Pitfalls in the Path to Integrative Innovation
Abstract:  Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds immense promise for advancing Ayurveda through enhanced diagnostics, personalized therapies, and scalable education. From tongue and pulse analysis to herbal formulation modeling, AI can uncover insights embedded in traditional knowledge systems. However, integration must be approached with sensitivity to Ayurveda’s epistemology, avoiding reductionism, data bias, and loss of holistic context. This paper explores current applications, challenges in aligning machine logic with Ayurvedic principles, and ethical considerations in safeguarding authenticity. By navigating these intersections thoughtfully, we can harness AI as a respectful collaborator in evolving Ayurveda for future generations without compromising its core integrity.

Topic: Ayurveda for Conscious Living: Cultivating Perfect Health Through Dinacharya, Ritucharya, and Mental Hygiene
Abstract:  In today’s world, where health is often compartmentalized into physical, mental, and emotional silos, Ayurveda offers a timeless, integrative vision—one that sees the human being as a unified field of body, mind, spirit, and environment. This presentation delves into three foundational pillars of Ayurvedic living: Dinacharya (daily routines), Ritucharya (seasonal alignment), and Manasa Swasthya (mental-emotional balance), exploring how they can be applied as sustainable frameworks for achieving Swasthya—a state of optimal health and inner harmony. Drawing upon insights from classical Ayurvedic texts and contemporary clinical experiences, the talk will illuminate simple yet powerful lifestyle practices that foster physical vitality, emotional resilience, spiritual clarity, and ecological awareness. Participants will be guided to realign with nature’s rhythms and their own inner intelligence, empowering them to become active agents in their own healing journey. This session is both inspirational and practical—ideal for those seeking conscious, preventative, and holistic approaches to health in an increasingly complex world.

Topic: Ayurvedic Face Analysis -
Unlocking Health Through the Window of the Face
Abstract:  In Ayurveda, the face is often called a mirror of our inner health. Ayurvedic Face Analysis is an ancient, gentle way to understand the balance of our body’s energies—called doshas—by observing our facial features, skin, and expressions. Each part of the face reflects different aspects of our physical and emotional wellbeing. For example, the forehead can reveal the state of our nervous system, the nose relates to digestion and metabolism, and the cheeks and chin can give clues about respiratory and reproductive health. This holistic technique helps practitioners spot subtle signs of imbalance long before illness shows up in other ways. By paying close attention to things like skin texture, color changes, lines, and marks on the face, practitioners can offer personalized advice and treatments that support the body’s natural healing. Unlike some diagnostic tools that require expensive tests or equipment, Ayurvedic Face Analysis is simple, natural, and non-invasive—making it accessible to many people. As modern medicine embraces a more integrative approach, combining this ancient wisdom with today’s knowledge can open doors to more personalized and preventive healthcare. This research aims to explore how reliable and useful Ayurvedic Face Analysis really is, by looking at existing studies, clinical experiences, and how it matches up with modern health assessments. The goal is to better understand how this practice can support early detection of health issues and guide effective, individualized care. Ultimately, Ayurvedic Face Analysis reminds us that health is reflected in every part of us—including our faces—and that by listening closely, we can nurture ourselves more mindfully and naturally.

Topic: Ayurveda and the Intelligence of Nature: Healing Beyond the Clinic
Abstract:  Ayurveda is more than protocol—it’s a relationship with life. As practitioners, we often focus on diet, herbs, and treatment plans—but beneath every classical text and clinical tool is a deeper invitation: to align with the living intelligence of nature itself. Rooted in the foundational principle that humans are microcosms of the macrocosm, Ayurveda teaches us that the elements, rhythms, and qualities of the natural world are mirrored within us. Healing, then, becomes an act of remembering—of restoring coherence between inner and outer nature. This session is a call to expand the Ayurvedic lens: to move beyond the treatment room and into forests, gardens, sunrises, and silence. Participants will leave with insights and practical tools to guide themselves and their clients toward a more embodied, ecological, and soulful approach to healing—one that honors the intelligence of nature as an essential partner in Ayurvedic medicine.

Topic: Outside In, Inside Out Ayurveda
Abstract:  Outside in: Research suggests that Metabolic Syndrome is caused by stress. The causative stressors along with the signs of Metabolic Syndrome are mitigated by meditation in study after study.  According to Ayurveda, 85% of all disease originated as an underlying digestive imbalance. Popular culture aims to resolve food intolerances and digestive issues by "bubble wrapping"   the diet (avoiding foods) while Ayurveda aims to restore function to the digestive and detox pathways of the body. Here we see Ayurveda taking a causative approach to perfect health from treating the body from the outside in.From the inside out, Ayurveda once again takes a leadership role in establishing perfect health. Ayurveda suggests that at the most subtle level, the cause of disease is when the body starts to function independently and separate from the whole. Ayurveda further suggests that the whole is an intelligent quantum field of consciousness. Studies show that through the practices of yoga, breathing and meditation, ultraweak photon emissions (UPE’s) in the body, can become more consciousness based or coherent (wavelike) vs. incoherent (particulate) and dense. While still theoretical, through the process of quantum entanglement.  the observation of coherent UPE’s that exist at the junction point between quantum fields and the physiology, can instantaneously change the more dense, particulate UPE’s in the body into more coherent photon emissions restoring the memory of the whole to the density of the body. Coherent or biophotons that exist as a frequency or wave, carry information (thoughts) and are more conscious, while the incoherent photons are in general more damaging to the body as a result of constant DNA damage.  Ayurveda uses the regular practice of  meditation, mantra, kumbhaka (breath retention), kala sandhi, (sunrise, sunset ritual)  ritu sandhi (seasonal transition practices) marma point therapy, nadi vigyan (pulse reading therapy) and more to create more coherence in the physiology while enhancing the awareness of the gap between consciousness and matter where the UPE’s are in transition from a quantum photonic wave  to a more dense and potentially damaging particle.

Aruna Katoch, BAMS, MD (Ayu), RMAS, California, USA -  is a holistic wellness practitioner, conscious conception advocate, and founder of the Sacred Parenting Begins Before Birth initiative. With over two decades of clinical and teaching experience in Ayurveda, she draws from ancestral healing and integrative lifestyle practices to support individuals and couples in preparing their bodies, minds, and relationships for conception. Aruna specializes in preconception care through a unique framework that integrates traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern insights in reproductive and generational health. Her work emphasizes conscious conception as the foundation for perfect health and thriving future generations. Based in California, she brings a global, inclusive perspective to ancient healing practices and is passionate about restoring sacredness to the family wellness journey.
Topic: The Sacred Start: Ayurveda for Conscious Conception
Abstract:
In Ayurveda, Garbha Sanskar and preconception rituals have long acknowledged that the journey of parenting begins well before conception. The physical health, emotional stability, mental clarity, and energetic alignment of both parents contribute to the quality of the offspring and the well-being of future generations. This presentation, The Sacred Art of Parenting Begins Before Birth, offers an integrative Ayurvedic model rooted in the principles of Sharira (body), Manas (mind), and Atma (spirit) to guide couples through conscious conception.
Using the core Ayurvedic concept of preparing the soil before sowing the seed, the session introduces a unique three-phase framework designed to holistically prepare individuals and couples for conception:
• Phase One: Individual purification and rejuvenation, doshic balance, and reproductive nourishment through Ahara, and Vihara.
• Phase Two: Harmonizing the emotional and relational environment (Sattva Gunavardhana), fostering mindful communication, and cultivating sacred sexuality as preparation for conception.
• Phase Three: Aligning intention, optimizing environmental influences (Desha), and performing spiritual invocation to welcome the Jeevatma (soul) into a conscious, loving space.
This presentation bridges ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with emerging insights from modern epigenetics, lifestyle medicine, and environmental health, illustrating how the Beeja (sperm and ovum) can be strengthened not just biologically, but spiritually and emotionally.
It is especially relevant for Ayurvedic practitioners, fertility experts, yoga therapists, and couples seeking to conceive consciously. It highlights Ayurveda’s timeless relevance in creating a foundation of perfect health—not just for the present generation, but as a legacy of well-being for those yet to be born.

Swapnali Anil Dhandar, BAMS, MD (Ayu), California, USA - has been practicing authentic Ayurveda since last 20 years. She has been instrumental in introducing Garbhasanskar in Bangalore around 10 years ago as part of Trikaya.
Topic: The role of Garbhasanskar in positive Eugenics
Abstract:  Garbhasanskar is an ancient Ayurvedic concept that refers to the process of educating, nurturing, and positively influencing the fetus during pregnancy through a combination of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual practices. "Garbha" means fetus or womb, and "Sanskar" means education, refinement, or conditioning.
It is based on the belief that a child’s personality, behavior, and even intelligence begin developing in utero, and these can be influenced by the mother’s diet, thoughts, emotions, lifestyle, and environment.
What is Positive Eugenics? - Positive eugenics refers to practices aimed at enhancing the genetic and inherited qualities of the next generation, not through artificial selection, but through natural, ethical, and health-promoting interventions that encourage better physical, mental, and intellectual development of offspring. In modern science, this is closely aligned with:
Epigenetics: The study of how behaviors and environment can cause changes in gene expression without altering DNA sequence.
Prenatal programming: The idea that the fetal environment influences lifelong health and behavior.
Connection Between Garbhasanskar and Positive Eugenics - Garbhasanskar acts as a natural and holistic approach to positive eugenics, by aiming to optimize the developmental environment of the fetus in a way that promotes physical, mental, spiritual health and behavioral conditioning influencing genetics development and modulation.
Conclusion - Garbhasanskar bridges ancient wisdom and modern science by offering a structured way to influence the genetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual makeup of the next generation. When viewed through the lens of positive eugenics, it offers a non-invasive, ethical, and empowering approach to improving human potential—starting from the womb.

Divjot K. Uppal - Undergraduate Student, UCSF, Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, San Francisco, California, USA.  I am an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology with a focus on biochemistry and neuroscience. My academic and research interests center on the intersection of integrative psychiatry, neuroscience, and mind-body medicine. Currently, I serve as a yoga assistant in Dr. Sudha Prathikanti’s clinical research study at UCSF, which evaluates Ayurvedic-informed yoga as a monotherapy for major depressive disorder .In this role, I guide participants through protocol-based yoga sequences tailored to their doshic subtypes and assist with data collection and participant recruitment. This experience has deepened my commitment to bridging traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern clinical science. My long-term goal is to advance accessible, evidence-based, and holistic approaches to mental health care that integrate both biological and mind-body perspectives.

Topic: Treating Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) with Ayurveda - Informed Yoga Practice: A Randomized Clinical Trail
Abstract:
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a leading cause of disability worldwide, with conventional treatments often limited by poor adherence, side effects, and modest remission rates. Evidence suggests yoga, emphasizing postures, breathwork, and relaxation, alleviates depressive symptoms, while Ayurveda offers an individualized framework by classifying depression into doshic imbalances (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). We conducted a randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating Ayurveda-informed yoga as monotherapy for mild-to-moderate MDD. Participants were randomized to Ayurvedic-informed yoga, standardized yoga, or educational control. To enable precision-based prescriptions, we developed and validated the Ayurvedic Depression Subtyping Measure (ADSM), which showed strong reliability and significant correlations with Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) scores. Preliminary completer analyses (N=10; 7 yoga, 3 control) revealed significant pre–post reductions in BDI-II scores among yoga participants (mean change = –10.4; p=0.0046), while controls showed no improvement. These findings align with prior RCTs, suggesting Ayurveda-informed yoga is a feasible, effective, and personalized intervention for MDD.
