Dr. Vidya Chakravarthy, BAMS, MS, Karnataka, India -  is an award wining plant based Ayurvedic Physician and Functional Medicine and Nutrition expert. She is also a blogger, researcher, speaker and a teacher. She runs Promotive Health and Nutrition a platform for Plant based healthcare professionals to interact, share and learn. This platform also has LMS for various medical streams and she actively propagates the principles of Veganism as a way of life. She is also a grassroots level activist for animals, environment, food justice and climate.
Topic: Plant based Ayurveda and Gut Health
Abstract: Ayurveda has particularly given importance to the gut health on the fundamental level of maintaining the overall health of an individual. The concept of Agni, principles of eating satvik food for the nourishment of dhaatus is innate in the nutritional aspects. By eating the right portions, freshly cooked, right combination of the rasas, adjusting a balance of nutrients and mindful eating has a positive effect on the body. Ayurveda emphasizes on eating foods that have "prana", the whole food plant based meals cooked in the saatvik way has the capability to enhance and sustain the health and vitality. The gut bacteria thrive on satvik foods and add life to the person. The plant and mineral based medicines are effective and safe on the gut. My talk will be focused on improving the gut health with plant based eating and disease management Ayurvedically and naturally.
